Orada Tech Repair is a walk-in repair shop on Bethany Road in Hazlet. People bring us phones, tablets, laptops and game consoles, and most of the time they leave with them working the same day. There is no call centre and nothing gets mailed anywhere — the work happens at the bench, by hand, a few feet from the person who owns the device.

That is the job in one line: do good work on somebody's device and be straight with them about it. If you like taking things apart and you are decent with people, the rest can be taught.

What you will be doing

• Diagnose what is actually wrong with a device, not what the customer guessed
• Screen, battery, charge port and back-glass replacements across phones and tablets
• Laptop work — keyboards, trackpads, drives and memory
• Game console repairs, including HDMI ports and disc drives
• Explain the repair and the price in plain language, at the counter
• Keep the bench, the parts and the ticket notes in order so the next person can pick it up

What we are looking for

• You are good with people. Half this job is at the counter
• You are careful, and you would rather ask than guess
• Some hands-on repair experience — at a shop, at home, or on your own devices
• Comfortable with small tools and small parts, and steady enough for fiddly work
• Reliable about being here when you said you would be

Nice to have

• Microsoldering, or any interest in learning it
• Experience on a busy counter — retail, service desk, anywhere people arrive with problems
• Spanish, or any second language our customers speak
